Okanagan College
  • This program provides students with an opportunity to pursue both high school grad credits and first-year post-secondary credits.

  • Students can enroll in 1 to 2 first-year Okanagan College transferable courses that fit into their secondary school schedule. 

  • Course selection must be part of a student’s documented education/transition plan from high school to post-secondary.

  • Grade 11 students and Grade 12 students can apply.  Courses must be complete before you graduate.

  • Transfer courses cannot be offered at the student’s home school, accessible to student at another school within the district, or offered through distance learning.​

  • When to Apply?

    • Grade 12's can apply in the first semester for the second semester (students should apply by November of their Grade 12 year).

    • Grade 11's can apply in their Grade 11 year to take the courses in their Grade 12 year.  (Grade 11's should apply by the end of May for the following year.)

UBC-Okanagan
  • The program provides an opportunity for highly motivated students with a superior academic record the opportunity to pursue both high school grad credits and first-year post-secondary credits.​​

  • Students are encouraged to apply during the spring of their Grade 11 year, to be eligible to take college/university transfer courses during the Fall or Winter Sessions during their grade 12 year.​

  • Course selection must be part of a student’s documented education/transition plan from high school to post-secondary.

  • Students will be required to pay the following fees: $65 application fee, $165 student fees and textbooks.

Students will take either APSC 169 or APSC 171 at UBC-O.  UBC-O will notify the students each fall for the course being offered that year; students do not have a choice. Both courses are required in the first-year engineering program at UBC-O. Fall 2023 is APSC 169

APSC 171: Engineering Drawing and CAD/CAM

Orthographic projections, axonometric and perspective projections, dimensioning and tolerances, computer-aided design and modeling, introduction to rapid prototyping, team-based design project.

APSC 169 Fundamentals of Sustainable Engineering Design

Theory and practice of sustainable engineering. Awareness and risk analysis of potential impacts on society and the environment over the lifecycle of engineering projects. Engineering design process, project lifecycle, and professional responsibility. Team-based design project.

Course Requirements:

  • Prerequisite: English 12 complete or taken concurrently in first semester.

  • The course schedule requirement is 2-3 classes per week, in addition 1 required tutorial at UBC-O. The scheduled days/times change each year. ​

  • Approximately 3-4 hours of homework and group work per week in addition to class time.

  • The grade received in this course WILL BE INCLUDED on the student's high school transcript AND their University record.

  • Students must demonstrate readiness for a university course. The university will conduct a professional conversation with all candidates that the District selects.

  • Fall 2023 Intakes: submit your application to your Career Centre by Feb 23, 2023 @12:00 pm.  No late or incomplete applications will be accepted.
